imageReview: Strikefleet Omega for iOS and Android | Pocket Tactics

Strikefleet Omega is tons of fun - pity the devs are charging by weight.

I've been eager to play this game for a while...I was very sad to find myself agreeing with Owen on this. The game has a lot of potential, and I still have some hope for it, but it is a money pit at the moment. Maybe if enough of us tell the developers, they'll reconsider this design.

On the positive side, I noticed an amusing number of Battletech references in the game, a nod of the head to Harebrained Schemes' involvement with the great Jordan Weisman.

Wow, that is so disappointing. I was really looking forward to playing this, as I am a big fan of Hairbrained or at least Jordan Weisman, but IAPs like this are a bit much for my tastes. I really don't mind paying full freight for a game either, but being bled dry is a bit much...

I'm disappointed too - I hope that comes across in the review. It's fun game and it's great to look at but it's just annoying.

They've probably done hours of focus group testing that has led them to this IAP model. It's proven to have the highest annoyance-to-revenue ratio or something.

I'm sure that this model is going to make them a ton of cash. But this ain't Harvard Business Review. :)

I dont think the IAP model was Hairbrained Schemes. They did a much more reasonable IAP model with Crimson Steam Pirates, and there is another publisher involved in this game that I think put in some money and required that IAP model.

6Waves is a Freemium game publisher and they are the ones with the publisher credit on this one. I am willing to bet that the experience of having to sell thier soul to 6W (Or, just another Zynga clone inc.) was one of the reasons they choose not to go with a publisher for Shadowrun Returns but to go to the public on Kickstarter instead.

Interesting review -- don't give it away for free and offer users a chance to play, see if they like it, and have IAP's. instead, just charge everyone $5?
Why not -- offer you an IAP to shut off ads (which I barely notice) and buy some in-game creds?!?
I don't plan to buy IAP's for the game, but its a good fun game! IMO IAP's don't ruin it at all. And I was impressed that you can earn the secondary currency by playing -- but you aren't.
I was hoping for some commentary on the different ships -- none -- the variety of enemies -- none -- the intense strategy involved in picking specific attack ships while defending the carriers & miners -- nope -- etc.
So, to restate -- art = great, music = great, sound & fx = great, gameplay = fun, replayability = high.
So your main gripe is IAP's.
So I say ---> get over your attitude! It's a freakin' GAME!!!!
Also, your site forced me to register to post this comment -- AND your site is littered with ads & so on. Sense the irony...?

I think you missed the point of the review, @rekzkarz - and don't understand the meaning of irony. :)
