I had Fieldrunners and this makes me feels like I'm REALLY bad at these games (probably true!). I admire your optimism about the casual gamer market leading to a more hard core experience... wish I share that view myself. Defo won't be getting this (considering I deleted the original a while back, never to return). Keep up the good work! great writing!

Good man, Owen. I haven't seen Touch Arcade or any of the other big sites' reviews yet but I'm sure they'll be falling all over themselves to give this a "must buy!" sloppy kiss review. I've never understood the appeal of this genre, really. If you're staring at a screen doing nothing, you're not playing a game.

The only defense game that ever grabbed me was Geodefense.

Probably going to hang back til it drops a couple bucks off the price. Fieldrunners was my favorite TD of the few that I played, but there's a bunch of real strategy games I have that I haven't gotten into very deeply yet. It's been tough lately with Ascension taking over my iPhone.

Yeah, I draw the line at games so easy (and/or scripted) that you can make a sandwich while the action continues on the screen. Definitely passing on this one.

But, like @Scameron, I can't wait to see what sort of wet, sloppy, awkward French kiss FR2 gets from Touch Arcade. At least half of the reviews there make me literally LOL.

All this tower defense talk lately makes me want to pick up Tiny Heroes again. There's at least two new campaigns I never tried.

have to chirp in here an: say agree with the touch arcade (sloppy kiss) reviews lol..., this will be 4 stars no doubt..their reviews are at best useless at worst misleading nonsense.

Plenty of people really did love the first Field Runners. This Touch Arcade rating is most likely valid for them. Personally I'm somewhere between Owen and fans of the first FR. I like most tower defense games but thought FR was a rather boring one. However, I'm still eager to try the new version since it has a bunch of enhancements.
