    The WWII story is a great one, although it over-eggs the pudding slightly:
    He was a veteran pilot with an iron sense of right and wrong; a man who would never kick another while he's down.
    Check out Karl von Muller, a WWI German naval captain who carried out warfare in the most honourable way available to him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_Emden_(1906). An opponent worthy of respect.

    See, this is why I still love WW2 stuff. The most brutal, savage period in history (maybe, it's a contender) and you still get men like these.
